Custom Framing
Custom framing is still available on a consultation basis at a limited level since moving out of retail premises and due to reduction in work space and amount of framing equipment.
Framed images available on this site were framed in-house by the Owner, a Certified Custom Framer with over 30 years experience.
Proper methods and materials are used as warranted by the nature of the framing project.
Ambience Gallery and Frames offers Preservation Framing, using museum quality archival materials (matboard, mountboard and UV filtering glazing) and completely reversible methods (such as museum hinging with modified starch paste and mulberry paper) to preserve, protect and present works of original art, collectible limited editions, heirlooms and historical memorabilia.
Standard framing is available for lower priced reproductions such as decorator prints, posters and photographs using drymounting to bond the artwork to a foamboard or other backing and regular glazing. A lower grade of matboard may be used for this quality of framing.
The lowest quality matboard Ambience Gallery and Frames offers is black core, a non archival board that reveals a black bevel when cut. So-called regular “acid free” matboards are not offered due to their inferior quality.
